We are experiencing exponential growth on a global scale in our Project-Based Services (PBS) team. You will support Phase I –IV clinical studies across a variety of therapeutic areas. This is a remote opportunity for individuals that live in the mid-atlantic or northeastern US regions.

As Director, Global Head of Project Management in our Project-Based Services (PBS) division, you will oversee our portfolio of Data Management, Biostatistics, and Programming projects. Key to success will be using strong leadership, communication project management skills to develop the department including establishing robust controls to ensure high quality project delivery. You will oversee a team of Project Managers and Project Assistants and work closely with cross-functional department heads from clinical data management, SAS programming, biostatistics, and medical writing. In developing the departmental procedures you will have an opportunity to directly impact project profitability, quality and customer satisfaction and will report to the Sr. Vice President, Clinical Research Services.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversight responsibility for the portfolio of client work overseeing timelines, deliverables and financial performance.
  • Establish company-wide processes and controls to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery inclusive of proper scope management; this will be accomplished in close cooperation with finance, QA and resource management.
  • Provide internal status updates on project performance with an eye towards strong performance across the portfolio.
  • Lead a team of experienced project managers and project assistants located throughout North America, Europe and India
  • Work closely with Learning & Development to development learning material supporting career advancement and skill enhancement of team members
  • Liaise with key customers to support project delivery and relationship management
  • Support new business activities (directly / indirectly) including proposal support and bid defense meeting participation
  • Collaborate with functional leads in Data Management, Programming, Biostatistics, and Medical Writing to coordinate resource management and project quality
  • Conduct revenue forecasting activities in close cooperation with finance.

What you offer:

  • Master's degree in a science or industry-related discipline
  • 12 or more years of relevant work experience, preferably in a contract research organization (CRO), pharmaceutical or biotechnology company with some or all of those years involved with biometrics
  • 5 or more years of Project Management and people leadership
  • PMP certification highly desirable.
  • Expert level usage of Project Management tools such as MS Project, MS Excel, CRM tools, etc.
  • Strong budget management experience.
  • Background in Data Management, SAS programming, and/or statistics strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated working knowledge of both the drug development process and CRO related activities.
  • Track record of managing and motivating strong, proactive project teams. Strong written and oral communication and organizational & interpersonal skills.
  • Entrepreneurial and self-motivated, without the need for significant infrastructure and support, an understanding of the dynamics of small, high-growth companies, and the ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Action-oriented and resilient in a fast-paced environment and will have the ability to build effective project teams, motivate others, delegate, and make and implement decisions.
  • Ability to build and maintain trust and confidence and communicate effectively with client, external vendors, and internal team members.
  • Proficiency in English
