The Care Management Biostatistician works with senior biostatisticians, care management directors, and program managers on the design and conduct of research studies and on the analysis, interpretation, and reporting of study results. Recommends and carries out effective statistical methodology and strategies necessary for the creation, completion, and analysis of research projects.
- Uses a wide variety of statistical procedures including but not limited to categorical data analysis, exploratory and graphical methods, analysis of variance, correlation analysis, multiple linear regression, time series analysis, logistic regression, survival analysis, and non-parametric methods.
- In conjunction with the department management, develops strategies for continuous quality improvements of programs and interventions.
- Maintains professional competency and future development by attending continuing education, conferences, and seminars.
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Business, Economics, Health Economics, Health Care Administration, Epidemiology or closely related field.
- Requires a thorough knowledge of experimental design, sampling, general linear models, categorical data analysis, predictive modeling, and statistical computing.
- Knowledge of managed care operations, and medical coding systems, i.e. ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS, is also preferred.
- Requires strong communication and interpersonal skills to be able to interact with all levels within the organization.
- Must be able to work as a member of a problem solving team.
- Requires the ability to design and carry out sound statistical methodology for the creation, completion, and analysis of research projects and supervise the planning and designing of analytical procedures by others.
- Ability to develop sampling methods, determine samples size, and select samples of populations to be studied.
- Requires the use of a wide variety of statistical procedures including but not limited to categorical data analysis, exploratory and graphical methods, analysis of variance, correlation analysis, multiple linear regression, time series analysis, logistic regression, survival analysis, and non-parametric methods.
- Ability to communicate and present results of analyses with a variety of internal and external audiences, both written and verbally.
- MS office Suite experience, SAS, SPSS, or other statistical package experience required.
- SAS Base Programming Certification.
- Requires 3 to 5 years of experience with proven skills in research design, analysis, and project management.
