Full Job Description

This position provides statistical analysis and programming support for projects within the Division of Public Health for Dr. Fares Qeadan grant funded project.

This position is considered Category IIA: Not required on campus and has the ability to telework remotely for the duration of the University of Utah’s response to COVID-19. An employee hired into this role will be responsible for providing space, telephone, printing, networking and/or internet capabilities at the telecommute location and agree to the terms of the University of Utah campus and Health Academics COVID-19 Telecommuting Agreement.

Responsibilities

1. Provides statistical analysis support

2. Reviews data for discrepancies, interacts with data managers, and creates analysis datasets

3. Prepares and communicates statistical results in written and oral summary

4. Conforms to statistical programming and analysis standards

5. Works collaboratively with supervising and other statisticians in supporting project needs

6. Supports manuscripts and grants

7. Other duties as assigned

Work Environment and Level of Frequency typically required

Nearly Continuously: Office environment.

Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required

Nearly Continuously: Sitting, hearing, listening, talking.

Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking.

Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires familiarity with standard statistical analysis procedures with a minimum of a BS degree in statistics, biostatistics, or a related field; General programming skills or familiarity with at least one statistical programming language such as SAS or R with the ability to independently gain new skills and solve difficult programming challenges; Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is necessary; An ability to work on several projects simultaneously and manage deadlines, and good communication skills.

Preferences

Masters degree in Biostatistics or related field.
